AI answers, emergency help and doctors, over plain SMS.
Barta brings AI answers, emergency SOS, blood donors and doctor booking to any phone in Bangladesh, by text message. No mobile data and no app: it works on a button phone over 2G.
(01) The problem
Useful technology in Bangladesh usually assumes a smartphone and a data pack. Millions of people have neither when they need help most, and an app is no use on a button phone.
(02) What we did
Barta runs on the one thing every phone can do: send a text. A gateway receives the SMS, works out what is being asked in Bangla, Banglish or English, and answers by SMS. Emergency numbers come from a fixed list, never from AI.
